View of a large rambling house in Dumbleton, in the countryside in Gloucestershire. There is a woman and child outside and a pond with some cattle to the front of the house. This may be the old manor house of Dumbleton because Sir Robert Atkins 'New History of Gloucestershire', published in 1779, records ' No gentlemen's family is resident at Dumbleton and part of the mansion house, the seat of the late Sir Robert Cocks, has lately been taken down to make it into a farm house. Many gentlemen's seats in this country are totally deserted and falling to a ruin...'.
