View of Grosvenor Square, one of the most prestigious addresses in London. This was the centre piece of the huge London estate owned by the Grosvenor family and the second largest square in London. It was built between c.1725- 31 when plots of land were leased long term for individual houses to be built. Only the wealthiest aristocrats could afford to live here and they often employed the best architects to alter or rebuilt their houses. However despite its impressive appearance, the square was not architecturally symmetrical.
