A coloured front view of the calico printing works at Isleworth, with detail of workers leaving rolls of printed material out to dry. Today there are no mills left, although the name Mill Plat survives in Isleworth. In the mid-16th century an artificial river was created to improve the flow of water from the Thames to the mills.
