View of Peckwater Quadrangle, Christ Church
Engraver: Havell, D & Havell, R
View of Peckwater Quadrangle, the smaller but more recently built quadrangle of Christ Church college, Oxford. It was designed by Henry Aldrich, Dean of Christ Church and amateur architect. Built between 1705 and 1714, it is one of the first English buildings in the Palladian style. As this picture shows, each side of the quad is uniform and neatly symmetrical with five bays (giant columns topped with a pediment).
