View of Wootton Bridge in the Isle of Wight. The village is situated between Ryde and Newport in the north east of the island. It is at Wootton Bridge that the Blackbridge Brook is crossed at the point where it reaches the Solent. The print depicts the river and a small group of houses along with a building with a tower on a hill behind the village. This was a private house known as Fern Hill, built by Lord Bolton when he was Governor of the Island.
