Bath Oliver Biscuits Advertisement, 1884
Dr Oliver is said to have bequeathed the recipe for his health-promoting biscuits to his coachman, who set up business at 13 Green Street and made himself a fortune. Bath Oliver biscuits were still being baked in Bath when this advertisement was produced in 1884:
“We invite attention to our celebrated Old Bath Oliver Biscuits, not to be excelled in quality or price... It is stated to be the only biscuit that is fermented, and on that account is good for invalids suffering from acidity of the stomach, for which yeast is a corrective.”
