This view of Bath by Samuel and Nathaniel Buck shows the city nestling in the hills beside the River Avon. A picnic party dances in the pastoral foreground, which also includes a shepherd and bird-catcher.

Beneath the view is a brief history of the city accompanied by a numbered key to places of interest, among them the monument erected in the Grove by Richard ‘Beau’ Nash "in Memory of ye Recovery of the Prince of Orange".
