Maps of Asia

A fascinating sampling of maps depicting places in Asia.

Kimberly Kowal

Lead Curator Digital Mapping

The vast continent of Asia is here represented by a relative handful of maps. Reflecting the history of Britain’s relations and interests in the 19th and 20th centuries, in particular in India and China, the military and topographic maps offer a vivid, if selective, picture of the landscape, coasts, and settlements there.
