Abbotsbury, St Catherine's Chapel f.103
Artist: Grimm, Samuel Hieronymus
Medium: Ink wash on paper
St Catherine's Chapel, built by Benedictine monks in the 14th century, possesses a striking silouhette for a chapel of its size. It is constructed wholly from stone quarried locally, including its monumental vaulted roof. Masons would have had quite a task hauling the huge stones up this hill.
