Abbotsbury, St Catherine's Chapel f.105
Artist: Grimm, Samuel Hieronymus
Medium: Ink on paper
This 14th-century chapel stands perched aloft the village and abbey of Abbotsbury below. It would have acted as an important landmark to pilgrims making their way to the abbey, and to shipping navigating their route around the rocky Dorset coast. For a chapel of its size it does indeed cast a striking and monumental silouhette.
