These sculptured friezes appear on the south front of St Mary's Church in Adderbury. The church, owned by the Bishop of Winchester, was one of the grandest of Oxfordshire parish churches. Among its rich decorative features are these lively carvings of humans, animals and monsters, some playing musical instruments. They are by an unknown sculptor who worked in the 14th century at Bloxham and other local churches.
