Blaise Castle, from the road near Henbury
Artist: Grimm, Samuel Hieronymus
Medium: Ink wash on paper
The towers of the Gothic-style folly can be seen here just peeping over the tree tops. It was built by Thomas Farr in 1766 and Humphrey Repton landscaped the gardens in the late 18th century. The castle and the grounds today offer an idyllic retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban Bristol life.
