St Giles' Church is part of the parish of Costock, which is 9 miles south of the City of Nottingham. White's Directory of 1853 reports: "The church is a small ancient edifice, dedicated to St Giles, and in 1849 it underwent extensive alterations and improvements, by the addition of a new side aisle &c".
