This view shows St Mary the Virgin church at Clifton, a small village four miles to the south of Nottingham. It was the seat of a local aristocratic family, the Cliftons. The church is of a good size with a substantial crossing tower. A chantry chapel was added to the chancel by Sir Robert Clifton in 1476.
