The Cathedral at Carlisle dates back to 1122 when it was founded as a priory by Henry I. The choir boasts a beautiful barrel-vaulted ceilng and walls decorated with 15th-century paintings depicting the lives of the saints. The tops of the columns are intricately carved with representations of the four seasons.
