Decoy outhouse at Abbotsbury
Artist: Grimm, Samuel Hieronymus
Medium: Ink wash on paper
Abbotsbury, situated at one end of the Fleet Lagoon (and in the vicinity of Chesil Beach and the Isle of Portland), was once the site of a monastery which maintained a swannery. It is also the home of the oldest duck decoy in England where ducks would be enticed into the area and the killed for the monks to eat.
