This view in ink shows the interior of the offices in Durham Castle. Mostly wood-panelled, the room's design most likely dates from the early 17th century. Scotland and England having been united in 1603, the castle's defensive features became less important, and many rooms were now used as offices for the administration of the Bishop of Durham's affairs.
