Easton and Fortuneswell are the two main areas of habitation on the Isle of Portland. For centuries Portland stone has been quarried at these sites, and in Grimm's day many inhabitants of these towns were involved in the stone industry. Even today Portland stone is used to construct buildings all over the world.
