The Grosvenor family have had their seat at Eaton Hall since the 1440s. When Buckler visited here in the early 1820s, the estate was undergoing modernisation by the then Earl of Grosvenor. However, it was not until 1870 that the house lost its Elizabethan facade, as seen here, and was completely remodelled by the architect Alfred Waterhouse.
