This monument in St James' Church commemorates Sir Bevill Granville, a staunch Royalist, who led his troops to victory in the battle at Lansdown in 1643 during the Civil War. Unfortunately, he was mortally wounded and died on the battlefield. Other monuments to the Granville family, who built St James, can be found in the church.
