A general outline view in ink of Kirkby in Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, taken from the south. The Duke of Portland was the principal landowner of the parish and had a large manor house there dating from 1622. Visible in the background is the spire of St Wilfrid's church, which was mostly destroyed by fire in 1907.
