A view in ink of the Freeschool, and the ruin of the church of St Swithin, near the Roman wall, in Broadgate Street, Lincoln. The church had nearly been entirely destroyed by fire in 1644 and was only rebuilt in stone in 1801. This second church itself fell swiftly into neglect and was taken down in 1884. The modern Church of St Swithin was built in 1888.
