Lee is an ancient Norman parish, and a Church of St Margaret was established in Lee Terrace in the 16th century. This is the second church to bear that name. Much renovated, it still serves the community. Three Astronomers Royal are buried in the churchyard: Nathaniel Bliss, John Pond, and most famously Edmond Halley.
