Luscombe, Devon, 1820 f.114
Medium: Pencil on paper
The estate at Luscombe was the property of Charles Hoare who bought the land in 1797. In 1800 he commissioned the two great names of his day to design a house and grounds which would incorporate the latest in fashionable trends in both home and garden. The architect John Nash and the landscape gardener Humphrey Repton worked together to create a charming secluded paradise for their extravagant patron.
