Edward I (r. 1272-1307) is best remembered as the monarch who captured and imposed English rule on Wales and kept Scotland under domination. Beaumaris became the first Welsh town to fall under Edward's control. He evicted all Welsh residents, forbidding them to dwell within the town walls, and laid the foundations for his castle.

This hall probably dates back to late Elizabethan times and was probably one of many buildings associated with the shipping trade due to Beaumaris being the major port in north Wales.
