Two different views in ink of Pinnacle Island, one of the Staple or Farne Islands, off the Northumberland coast. The lower view shows the island's lighthouse. Many ships and their cargo have been lost down the centuries in the Farne archipelago. In the 17th and 18th centuries, islanders made clandestine profits recovering items from the sea and selling them in markets inland.
