The 14th-century Church of St James is known locally as the "Foresters' church". The story goes that the foresters from Sherwood Forest cut their bows from the yew trees in the churchyard here - and that Robin Hood did the same! A few years after Grimm made this sketch of the it was pulled down and rebuilt in the Georgian Gothic style.
