A view in ink of the court of Strangeways Hall near Abbotsbury in Dorset. The hall was built by Sir John Strangeways, whose family had bought the local abbey estate in 1543, after Henry VIII's dissolution of monastic houses. Shortly before Grimm made this drawing, the London Journal reported that "all the people of Abbotsbury, including the Vicar, are thieves, smugglers and plunderers of wrecks"!
