The chapterhouse of Southwell Minster is considered by many to be beyond comparison. It is entered by a doorway, leading off the north choir, exquisitely carved with leaves. Indeed, the theme of nature is found throughout the chapterhouse. Pillars and doorways abound with carvings of birds, flowers and animals. The room inside is octagonal in shape and contains 36 seats - all crowned with the most wondrously carved triangular canopies.
