The foundations for this building were laid in 1342 and has been a focal point for the history of Coventry over the last 650 years. The Great Hall contains tapestries dating back to 1500 and fine stained-glass windows depicting nine kings of England. Mary Queen of Scots, one of many royal visitors, was "imprisoned" here between November 1569 and January 1570.
