The Inn at the Crossing Hands
Artist: Grimm, Samuel Hieronymus
Medium: Ink wash on paper
Grimm most probably stayed at this inn when he was sketching the area in the summer of 1790. Cross Hands is situated near to the crossings at Aust over the River Severn and a lot of traffic would have made its way through this area. Because of this the inn is rather large and has ample stable space (seen to the left of the picture) to accommodate the passing trade.
