This Somerset inn was used by travellers such as Grimm along the Clevedon Road which headed out of Bristol. Inns were commonly the only means of accommodation for travellers in this time. Diarists often commented on the quality of the rooms, food and drink on offer, rather like an 18th-century version of the modern day travel-guide.
