The inscription on this tomb states that it: "is erected to perpetuate the memory of Mr Isaac Blight/who was inhumanely shot in his own house at Rotherhithe/by the hand of a perfidious domestic/the 23 day of Sep' 1805/in the 49 year of his age."

The poem beneath reads: "Have you not seen beneath a darkened sky/Quicker than thought the vivid lightning fly/Equally swift was the insidious blow/That pierced my heart and laid my head thus low/Merciful God Thou Glorious being of Heaven/Forgive the blow and may I be forgiven."
