A view of the parish and village of Widcombe in Somerset, now in the City of Bath. The parish included St Mary Magdalene's Hospital for the mentally ill, which was rebuilt in 1761 with a chapel annexed to it. Local people were employed in the extensive freestone quarries nearby with the stone being used for new buildings in Bath, Windsor and London. The Kennet and Avon canal crossed the parish.
