Britannia Provincia Romanorum
Cartographer: Rogers, William
This map of the British Isles is by William Rogers. It dates from 1600 and was published in London. It was prepared for insertion into folio 82 of William Camden’s Britannia. A medallion of Britannia seated on a globe is included. The names of the early British tribes and towns are indicated. An unusual feature is that a double wall is shown converging at Carlisle, named here as Lugovallum, one of these walls is clearly Hadrians , but the other is shown to curve north-east across Scotland and is therefore a mystery. Rogers’ source is not known.
