London, Chatham & Dover part 05
Composer: Hunt, G. W.
'Jolly John Nash ' a popular Music Hall star, started his career as a blacksmith (which was why he was sometimes known as 'The Laughing Blacksmith') and didn't actually perform on stage in London until the 1850s. He had a cheerful persona and specialised in comic songs and funny walks. He performed in front of royalty and was a favourite of the Prince of Wales who even gave him a silver cornet to use in his act. He fell out of favour though when he was a bit too jolly during one performance and slapped the Prince on the back!
