Lewis's Beautiful Tea part 02
Composer: Frost, William
The inspiration for many songs is often current events or popular trends, and this one is no exception. During the 19th Century tea became Britain's most popular drink, it was cheap, non-alcoholic and provided nourishment for workers. However tea was not only enjoyed by the workforce but by all levels of society. Here a middle class girl is playing the piano whilst couples waltz in the background. Tea is enthused about in a very exaggerated fashion in the lyrics of this song, it is described as smelling like '...the breath of flowers, when sunbeams are kissing after showers...', would you describe tea in the same way?
