The Brighton Pavilion Galop part 03
Composer: Smith, J (Band master Royal Artillery)
During the 19th Century it became very fashionable for England's leisured classes to visit spa towns for their health and entertainment. Brighton was only an hour away from London and improvements in the railways made it easy to reach. The town thrived and in 1889 the famous pier was built, closely followed by entertainment halls and amusement arcades. Brighton Pavilion is the former palace of King George IV, and has been a popular tourist attraction since the 19th Century. It was constructed in 1787 and redesigned by John Nash in 1815. The exterior resembles an Indian palace and the inside is decorated in an ornate Chinese style.
