The Luttrell Psalter- Pages 15 and 16

Psalm 89, ff. 159v - 160
These pages contain two particularly interesting marginal illustrations. On the left-hand page, a man holds a stone monument which bears a strong resemblance to the Eleanor Crosses, the monuments erected by the heart-broken Edward I across the country wherever the funeral bier of his beloved queen, Eleanor of Castile, stopped overnight on its journey to London in 1290. On the right-hand page two men pull a rowing-boat.
