Caring for your family archive

Tuesday 19th April 12:30 – 16:00

Many people are now gathering together photographs, documents and other memorabilia to create their own family archive. Appointments are available throughout the session for a consultation with one of our team of conservators on how best to care for your treasured items.

Please note that we are not able to give valuations or provide secure storage for items while you visit other parts of the Library.

Care and storage of textiles - an introduction

Thursday 2 June 14:00 – 16:30

The seminar offers basic knowledge for the care and storage of textiles such as embroideries, costume, wedding dresses and rugs. Common deterioration causes will be discussed and suitable storage methods and materials introduced.

Participants will undertake a practical session to learn basic storage techniques for both flat and three-dimensional textile items.

Please note that we are not able to give valuations or provide secure storage for items while you visit other parts of the Library.
