The British Library offers two services:
|Find It For Me||is purely a Location Search. We will look for the item for you; tell you where it is and how you might order it.|
|Get It For Me||is a service whereby we will source and supply items from 3rd party suppliers. Occasionally, we may be unable to obtain the item on your behalf, in which case we will provide its location so that you might order it directly. You may specify a Maximum Cost and a Need By Date for this service. Please note that if we find the item but either the Maximum Cost or the Need By Date cannot be met, the order will be failed. In this case we will inform you of the price and/or availability date.*|
*Please note that the British Library Service charge will be incurred and you will need to apply again (with revised Maxcost/ Need By details) if you want us to source & supply the item.
The Online Ordering interface includes options where you can specify a Maximum Cost and/or a Need By date. These options are not possible when ordering via your Library Management System or ARTEmail.
While on-line you will be able to check British Library holdings, item availability and the price more easily. You will also be able to track the progress of your order.
What happens if the British Library finds the item, but either the Maximum Cost or the Need By date cannot be met?
The order will be failed and we will inform you of the price and/or availability date. Please note that the British Library charge will be incurred and you will need to apply again (with revised Maximum Cost / Need By details) if you want us to source and supply the item.
