Systematic collecting of European-language material began in the 1840s, but we also have magnificent collections of early printed material. We collect printed and electronic material on the humanities and social sciences from all countries of West, East and Central Europe (excluding Great Britain and Ireland) and (with some exceptions) books published elsewhere in European languages.
