Catalogues

A guide to catalogues detailing our holdings in Korean.

Card catalogue

The card catalogue in the Asian & African Studies Reading Room comprises author, title and subject sequences. It covers monographs acquired before 1994 when the automated catalogue came into operation.

Printed catalogues

Courant, M. Bibliographie Coréenne (Paris 1894-1901). Revised edition, Hanguk soji, translated and edited by Yi, Hui-jae (Seoul, 1994)

Skillend, W. E. Kodae sosol: a survey of Korean traditional style popular novels. (London 1968)

Adami, N. R. Standortkatalog Koreanischer Zeitschriften in Europa. (Berlin, 1981)

Soul-hak saryo charyo chongso, 3, Europe (Materials for Seoul studies, .3, Europe). (Seoul, 1994)

Automated catalogue

In March 1994 the Korean card catalogue was closed and work began on inputting records for Korean books into the main British Library catalogue (GK). At time of writing over 300 records have been added to the automated file, and can be searched by author, title, publisher and subject on Explore the British Library. These records are also contained on the fiche printout of the British Library catalogue.

Manuscripts

Access to the manuscript collection is through the List of Oriental Manuscripts and the Classified Inventory of Oriental Manuscripts, both kept on the reference shelves of the Asian & African Studies Reading Room.
