Australian and New Zealand Collections

We have the largest collection on Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands in the UK. From early colonial texts through to contemporary literature, the monograph collections cover a broad range of humanities, social science and general interest topics.

The Library holds copies of the first books to be published in Australia and New Zealand and many significant works from the early days of publishing in these countries. (Read more about the history of these collections.) The Library also holds manuscripts, official publications, sound recordings and philatelic collections from the region.
