Whilst a large proportion of Guilford's manuscripts relate to Italy and the Papacy, the history and culture of Greece lay close to his heart and were strongly represented in his library. This18th-century volume contains a series of Greek hymns in praise of the Holy Mother of God, some of which are apparently written in the hand of the author, Constantine Daponte. The volume has a contemporary blind-stamped binding which is one of a number of interesting bindings in the Guilford collection.
