The English writer Henry Green (1905-1973) was the author of nine novels. Whether his subject is life on the factory floor in Birmingham in Living (1929), the immensely wealthy young things temporarily trapped in a railway station in Party going (1939) or tense relationships within the voluntary fire service during the Blitz in Caught (1943), his work is characterised by an unconventional emphasis on dialogue, and plotting which is oblique but rewarding.
"Henry Green" was a pseudonym. His real name was Henry Vincent Yorke.
