The guide is arranged very broadly by subject, and works are listed alphabetically. The shelfmark of each item is given at the end of every citation.

Please note that the following are not included in this guide:

  • Individual biographies;
  • Works by and/or about some famous Russian women (e.g. Akhmatova, Armand, Kollontai, Krupskaia, TSvetaeva etc.);
  • Works which could be categorised as 'Russian women's fiction' (these works can, however, be found by searching both the pre- and post-1975 catalogue subsets, using the 'name', 'title' or 'keyword' options);
  • Articles from periodicals.
