Readers must comply with our conditions of use of the Library's Reading Rooms and there are specific conditions for Readers consulting Western Manuscripts.
The Manuscripts Reading Room has the following additional requirements:
- Readers wishing to examine watermarks should not lift the manuscript from the bookrest, but rather request the use of the appropriate equipment.
- Tracing is not allowed from illuminated manuscripts or artistic drawings, and in other cases only by permission.
- Self-service photocopying is not allowed for any Manuscripts material. Readers may only request copies of manuscripts from the Library's Imaging Services. Copyright regulations apply as for other collections.
