Wi-fi, Internet and Email FAQs

Are the Reading Rooms Wi-Fi enabled?

The Library provides free wif-fi access.

Does the Library provide access to the Internet?

Internet access is available on most of the Reading Room workstations.

You must acknowledge the British Library guidelines on the appropriate use of the Internet before you access external Internet resources.

We will obtain records of transactions in cases of concern or complaint and infringements of the guidelines; this may lead to withdrawal of access to the Library's services.

Can I use access my Email account using Library computer terminals?

British Library PCs can not be used for the sending or receipt of emails. This is one of the conditions that readers accept when they register for a Reader Pass.

Emailing of results, following a search of the Library's subscribed electronic resources, is possible from within those resources where this is allowed by the publisher.
