A large proportion of the Holkham Manuscripts available on microfilm were made in the 14th and 15th centuries, but some can be dated as early as the 11th century. These include illuminated Byzantine Gospels, French Bibles and English Psalters, many are beautifully illustrated with illuminated initials and decorative borders.

The collection  contains not only the reports of the great Royal Commissions, on factories, the poor, health and sanitation, labour, trade unions, and trade depressions- and of Select Committees- on elections, trade, railways, and the Jameson Raid, but also the great Bills laid before the House.
Other items of importance include: reforming the electoral system, freeing the slaves in the colonies and  overseas possessions, educating all children, restricting the labour of women and children in mines, factories and dangerous trades, removing taxes and duties on necessities of life, and abolishing capital punishment for most criminal offences. Reports of departments of state, such as the Inland Revenue, the Royal Mint, HM Customs and Excise and the Registrar General of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and of Commissioners for Historical Manuscripts, Public Records, Ecclesiastical and Church Estates, and Charities are also included.

These two reels of microfilm are made up of the complete set of photographs of the Dead Sea Scrolls, taken in Israel by Robert Schlosser of Huntington Library in the early 1980's.
There is no index held but a hardcopy guide accompanies the  two microfilms when sent on loan.
